Rumours about the audio release of Mangaatha have been doing rounds since April 2011. It was earlier reported that the music would be launched on Ajith Kumar’s birthday (May 2). But it did not see the light of day. However, it continued to be a mystery, as the makers of the film did not reveal the reason behind it. Now, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja has spilled the beans on the delay.
The ace musician claims that a tune composed by him earlier was not liked by the makers of the film, which delayed the the audio launch. Explaining this to his fans on Twitter, he said ,“The reason for the delay in Mangaatha audio is we had to scrap 1 tune n record a fresh. I wasn’t happy with the old tune for but now da new 1 sounds much better….”
Talking about the audio launch, Yuvan Shankar Raja wrote, “Mangaatha’s audio, in all probability, will be released next month, we are told.” Meanwhile, Dhayanidhi Alagiri has said that the movie unit is not delaying intentionally. He tweeted, “The team is not delaying the audio release wantedly ! Work is goin on day n night ! We don gain anything by delayin it ! UNDERSTAND !”

south cinema (deivathirumagal)

Cast: VikramAnushka Shetty, AmalaPaul, Santhanam, Nasser and others.
Director: AL Vijay
Music Director: GV Prakash Kumar
Cinematographer: Nirav Shah
Editor: Anthony
Producers: M. Chinthamani and Ronnie Screwvala
Release Date: 15 July 2011

Vikram’s Deiva Thirumagal, as reported earlier, is inspired by Hollywood movie I am Sam. Though, AL Vijay repeatedly said that the story is not lifted from the English movie, yet we can see the shades of the film in the first half. Nonetheless, the movie has been made keeping the taste of Tamil audience in mind and actors Vikram, Anushka Shetty, baby Sara have given life to his script, as they have delivered best performance till date. Read on for Deiva Thirumagal review.
Story:
As we all know, the story of the film is about a man with a developmental disability, who fights for his daughter’s custody after the death of his wife. Krishna (Vikram) is a dim-witted with a maturity of a five-year-old, who has lost his wife. He works in a chocolate factory in Ooty and lives happily with his daughter Neela (Sara). She goes to a school, which is run by her grand father Rajendran (Sachin Khedkar), but she is not aware of the fact nor her grand father. At this juncture, there bonding gets a threat after his father-in-law Rajendran (Sachin Khedkar) came to know about the truth and drags him to the court for Neela’s custody, which devastates his emotional balance.
Rajendran along with his second daughter Shwetha (Amala Paul) appoints lawyer Bashyam (Naseer) to handle the case. Though, it looks, there is a point in their argument that a retard could not bring up his daughter easily, yet their separation would not be justified because Rajendran himself is a father of two girls. However, Krishna accidentally meets Anuradha Ragunathan (Anushka Shetty) and narrates his story. Moved by his past, she decides to fight for him in the court. Bashyam, who has never lost a single case in his life, tries to win the case at any cost. The rest of the story, which is shot in a court, is advised to watch on-screen.
Performance:
First of all, we should thank Vikram for making such an attempt as an actor, as it is very difficult to showcase the troubles of the people, who are are victims of developmental disability. The actor has given such a performance that audience keep remembering even after coming out of the theatres. His childish looks, his laughters and wonderful expressions are treat to watch. Baby Sara has acted from her heart and one could not stop raving about the five-year-old after watching her acting. Anushka Shetty could not have expected more than this. It is a dream role for any actress, as her character in the film had good scope for performance without being glamorous. Santhanam in his usual ways, steals the show, whenever he comes on-screen. Nasser, MS Bhasakar and other characters have also done justice for their roles.
Technical:
Starting with cinematography, Nirav Shah has beautifully wonderfully captured the locales of Ooty on his camera lens with ease. His light settings for indoors and outdoors are praise worthy. Music by GV Prakash Kumar is good but not best. For this genre, the audio banks on melody. However, he has managed to deliver three good numbers. Editor Anthony would have been merciless in the first half, as the general audience might get slightly bored due to slow proceedings. And finally, director AL Vijay, who has penned the story and screenplay, has made his best film ever. He has really worked a lot on the subject, as it is a complex and sensible story.
Overall:
Al Vijay has etched an emotional story with a lot of commercial elements. We can see a mentally handicapped character in a highly sentimental melodrama. Vikram surely touches one’s heart with his brutally honest depiction of a mentally disabled man and eventually brings out tears in you. His chemistry with Sara is wonderfully picturized and father-daughter bonding is threaded well.
Drawbacks:
Deiva Thirumagal is not a typical commercial entertainer and it is not sure how the mass audience will receive the movie. The narration of the movie in the first half is bit boring. It is only in the second part, the proceeding speeds up.
Verdict:
Deiva Thirumagal has a heart touching subject with wonderful performances from the actors. Don’t miss it!

New Ghost Rider Looks Like Most Hellacious Comic Book Movie Ever

At the Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance press conference, star Nicolas Cage and co-directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine talk about their extreme new vision for the Marvel Comics hellion.

SAN DIEGO — While most comic book movies play it safe, the upcoming Ghost Rider film looks dangerous as hell.
comic-con-2011
Explosive footage of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, screened Friday in Hall H during Sony’s panel at Comic-Con International, bristled with manic energy and a demonic menace well-suited to the Marvel Comics character, a cursed motorcycle stunt rider who turns into a bony hellion.
Ghost Rider is, we think, one of the most badass characters of all time,” said co-director Brian Taylor during the panel. “I mean, he makes absolutely no sense at all…. There’s no logic to it — it’s just pure nightmare.
During the Comic-Con footage, the massive Hall H rumbled with guttural roars and revving engines, as extreme action filled the screen. At the center of it all was an unbelievably fiery and ferocious Ghost Rider, with his powerful Hell Cycle, flailing chain and waves of hellfire — oh, the hellfire.

Cursed stunt rider Johnny Blaze is better known as the Ghost Rider.

Flames danced on Ghost Rider’s skull, trailed from his wicked bike, spewed from his mouth and basically befouled everything, like some kind of infernal bukkake scene. (He even pissed fire.)
Extreme close-ups, stark high-def imagery and pounding audio gave the footage an astonishing presence somewhere between horror movie, Kiss concert and fever dream.
After The Dark Knight, almost everybody involved in making a superhero movie gave lip service to “going dark” with their projects.
While Kick-Ass kicked the genre in the teeth, most superhero flicks hew to Iron Man’s path to box office success: Introduce a relatable hero, mix in some humor, add a little romance and bring on the supervillain smackdown at the end.
For Ghost Rider, that formula doesn’t really work. The 2007 Ghost Rider movie came out more like a Grimm’s fairy tale, something for kids to watch with their families, said star Nicolas Cage, who reprises his role as cursed biker Johnny Blaze in Spirit of Vengeance. Rising from the ashes of that critically panned film, Cage and his new directors are taking Ghost Rider in an entirely new direction — basically straight to hell.
It’s an appropriate choice for a character, hatched in 1972 by writers Roy Thomas and Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog for Marvel Comics, that’s more demonic than your average pulp creation.

The first issue of Ghost Rider tagged the character “the most supernatural superhero of all.”
He’s scary — he’s not really a superhero…. He doesn’t wear tights, he doesn’t have, like, you know, invisibility power,” co-director Taylor said. “His power is, he sucks out your soul. Like that’s the Ghost Rider’s superpower. That’s insane — it’s totally insane.”
Cage embraced the amped-up take on theGhost Rider character, whose powers include the Penance Stare, the ultimate crazy-eyes look that causes those who receive it to relive past sins. (Could there be a superpower more befitting Cage, who truly shines when brings the crazy?) Clearly relishing Spirit of Vengeance’s horrifying tone, Cage said it fits with the character’s evolution since the last film.
“Johnny Blaze has been living for several years now having had his head catch on fire, so it’s had a little bit of an effect on his mood,” Cage deadpanned. “In the first movie, he was kind of an innocent goofball — he was keeping the ignition at bay. This one, he’s been living with it for several years and it certainly has made him a bit more sarcastic, a bit more edgy [and] ironic.”
There’s possibly no directing team more capable of capturing that edginess and insanity than Taylor and his partner Mark Neveldine, who work under the name Neveldine/TaylorSpirit of Vengeance’s hellacious tone benefits greatly from the DIY drive of the daredevil directing duo, known for their hilariously vulgar and high-energy Crank movies — and for their innovative and risky filming methods.
An outrageous behind-the-scenes reel screened at Comic-Con showed off Neveldine and Taylor’s utterly unorthodox style, with the daredevil directors riding on rollerblades, hanging off the backs of motorcycles and dangling from wires over steep cliffs while clutching cameras to capture death-defying footage.
Their stated goal is to capture as much in-camera as humanly possible, then use CGI to enhance the imagery rather than relying on digital creations, which can lead to the lifeless, sterile feel of the firstGhost Rider film.
“Mark and Brian are both very camera-oriented,” said Cage, who called the directors extremists. “They both operate, they both know where to put the camera,” he said. “And the way Mark Neveldine shoots, he really risks his life.”
Cage and co-stars Idris Elba (who plays drunken monk Moreau) and Johnny Whitworth (as key villainBlackout) performed many stunts themselves. It’s part of the Neveldine/Taylor playbook — taking risks to capture the most intense visuals possible, sometimes at a physical cost to the actors and stuntmen.
‘You will see real bones breaking inGhost Rider. Not CG bones — real bones.’
“You will see real bones breaking in Ghost Rider,” said Taylor. “Not CG bones — real bones.”
Who knows if Neveldine/Taylor can fill a couple hours of screen time with the kind of adrenaline-fueled fiery mayhem they blasted at the Comic-Con crowd Friday. But one thing’s certain: Spirit of Vengeance will take the comic book movie genre to new extremes.
It’s about time, according to Cage, an avowed comics fan who’s followed Ghost Rider for years.
“I always appreciated the monsters more,” Cage said. “I felt for them. I liked their complexity. In a day and age where we’re making comic book movies all the time, and all the superheroes are pretty much really good guys, you need to have a couple bad boys in there, too. And Ghost Rider provides that.”
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is slated to open Feb. 17, 2012.

As the sun rose on an auspicious morning, actorKarthi and Ranjini tied the knot, in an elaborate ceremony at Coimbatore, yesterday. Tradition ruled the wedding in terms of attire and ambience. The event was graced by close friends and families of the couple.

Karthi and Ranjini
Karthi and Ranjini

The bride, Ranjini, looked stunning, clad in a mustard yellow silk sari, accessorized to a minimum with traditional temple jewellery. Karthi, also took the traditional route and sported a white shirt, veshti and angavastram. While Suriya and Sivakumar were seen in white shirts and silkbordered veshtis, Jyothika looked elegant in a gold colour silk sari.

There was a fair presence from the entertainment industry, including actresses Nagma and Radhikaa, actors Prabhu and Karthik Kumar, directors Bala, K S Ravikumar and Lingusamy.

The wedding had its share of cute moments as well. Karthi's 'failed' attempt to lift himself up while Ranjini was garlanding him made way for some excited laughter from the crowd. When the photo session brought forth with it a great deal of confusion, Suriya stepped in to restore order.

She has also tried her hands at some comedy through this film and is protective about Vijay in the film, sources say.
For his sister’s wedding he wants to withdraw the money he has invested in a chit-fund company and comes to Chennai for that, where he meets a TV news journalist, Deepa, played by Genelia D’ Souza.
After witnessing a mysterious accident where goons die, Genelia brings in a fictional character to light with the name ‘Velayudham’ claiming he killed the goons. Incidentally, Vijay escapes a bomb blast with no effort, by luck, and people begin to refer to him as the superhero, ‘Velayudham’!
Genelia later meets Vijay and convinces our matinee idol to don the role of this superhero, to which he agrees as he realizes he and many others are cheated by the chit fund company…
So the rest of the plot follows of how Vijay under the mask of a superhero, Velayudham, avenges his loss, fights against corruption in the city and baddies.
